Our Sunlun Group of Companies was recently invited to attend the launch of all-new Jaecoo J7 PHEV on 28 February 2025 at Sentul Depot, Kuala Lumpur and had the opportunity to have a first-hand look at Jaecoo’s latest locally-assembled sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Malaysia.

What is Jaecoo J7 PHEV’s range and charging performance?
The Jaecoo J7 PHEV is a rechargeable plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) which runs on both electric and fuel power to deliver enhanced driving range with versatile charging capability:     

• Electric Driving Range: 106km (NEDC-rated)
• Combined Driving Range: 1300km (NEDC-rated)
• Charging Time 30%-80%: 20mins (DC 40kW fast charging)
• Charging Time 0%-100%: 3hr20mins (AC 6.6kW) / 8hrs (AC 3.3kW)

 

 

What is the power delivery system of Jaecoo J7 PHEV?
The Jaecoo J7 PHEV features Super Hybrid System (SHS) technology which incorporates three core power delivery components to ensure high performance and efficiency:

• Cutting Edge 5th-Gen 1.5 TGDI Dedicated Hybrid Engine
• Continuously Variable Dedicated Hybrid Transmission
• Durable 18.3kWh Dedicated Hybrid LFP Battery Pack

How does Jaecoo J7 PHEV’s super hybrid system work?
The Jaecoo J7 PHEV enables effortless switch from electric vehicle (EV) mode to hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) mode to deliver smooth driving comparable to that of a fully EV:

• Pure Electric Drive
  0 – 40km/h: Electric motor drives vehicle while engine remains off
• Power Generation Mode
  40 – 70km/h: Electric motor drives vehicle while engine charges battery
• Combined Performance
  70 – 80km/h: Both electric motor and engine drive vehicle simultaneously
• Engine-Only Drive
  80+km/h: Engine drives vehicle while electric motor remains idle

Presently in Malaysia, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV is equipped with 19” original equipment (OE) tyres and factory-fitted with 235/50 R19 tyres enhanced by 19” aero aluminium alloy wheels with stylish rim covers.
